Mexican Silver Libertad Coins

The Mexican silver libertad coins are 1oz silver bullion coins that have been produced in years when other Onza Troy de Plata (Troy Ounce of Silver) Mexican coins were not being minted. The obverse of the Mexican Libertad has seen some minor changes, but the Independence Angel, which is the symbol of Mexico City has always been featured. The design of this Silver Libertad coin is similar to the Mexican 50 Peso. The Angel stands in front of the Iztacc’huatl and Popocat’ptl volcanoes. The reverse of the Mexican Libertad coin is also similar to the 50 Peso. The centre of the Mexican silver coin depicts an eagle battling a snake, surrounded by a wreath, and the words Estados Unidos Mexicanos. With slight changes to design and lettering have taken place over the years.

The gross weight of the coin is 31.101 g, the silver content is 1 troy oz., the thickness 4 mm, the Mexican silver Libertad coins diameter is 40.60 mm, and they make a nice addition to any collection.
